SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is used to verify if an e-mail message is sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a domain will stop the faking of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain name makes a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests if it comes from an official server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but when it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's rejected. Thus nobody can mask an e-mail address and make it appear as if you are sending spam. This approach is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to select one of your domain names from a drop-down list and then enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the emails for it, not a third-party supplier. This feature gives you the best standard of protection, but it's not applicable if only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are handled elsewhere. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you'll be able to take advantage of the SPF protection feature as a part of the standard group of services that you will get using this kind of hosting. Enabling the protection will involve just a few easy steps inside the Hepsia Control Panel, thus even when you've never used this kind of function before, you will not have any problems. Through a really easy-to-navigate interface, you'll only have to enter the details of the mail server that will be certified to send messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the newly created record propagates, no one will be able to forge any email address for that particular domain and send emails from a server other than the one you have entered. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, still in case we manage your e-mails, you're able to activate one more level of security by choosing an option that emails can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only if the domain employs our MX records. Our tech support crew can help you 24/7 if you have any questions regarding this service.
